Perfect Days and why we should meet in person

Back when Perfect Days was in the cinemas, I watched it multiple times and wasn’t quite sure why I enjoyed it as much as I did. It is a rather simple movie, there isn’t much happening as it’s following the life of the main character while cleaning toilets in Tokyo. Every once and a while there is a new subplot with his niece, a coworkers love story or the owner of the bar that he goes to every week. The one thing that all of these have in common is that they end at some point in the movie. At the end of the movie every storyline is completed and in the past. You seem to know everything that happened during this time, but at the same time, you know almost nothing about the main character.

How to Have Sex and the feeling of being alone in a group

“How to Have Sex” is an absurd name for a movie. I saw a trailer for it in the cinema and the party scenes convinced me to watch it. The movie is about a group of girls going to Malia. They celebrate that they have written their final exams and plan to just party and have fun for a few days. One of the characters never had sex and feels pressured to try it while being there. This leads to her first time being a negative experience.

Millenium Mambo and Forgetting

Recently I decided to go to the cinema with my cinema subscription and watch “Millenium Mambo”, which was part of a series on the favourite movies of people working at the cinema. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, but I walked out thinking: “That was a good movie, but why do people like it so much?”. It was kind of absurd, so I thought back and noticed that I barely remember anything from the movie. This was the first time where after walking out of the cinema, I decided to read some movie reviews to get what the movie wanted from me. Turns out it’s a lot more than I thought.
